Letters from Our Readers

  Dear Angela:
I hate reading. One day I saw Spring Jammin’ sitting on my mother’s kitchen table and I picked it up. I started reading the first page and I kept on reading it until I got tired. I didn’t realize I was already halfway through it. Instead of playing solitaire on my computer, I read the rest of the book. I like reading now and I can’t wait until your next book comes out. Please let me know right away.
Jennifer S : age 13

Dear Angela Clarke:
I thought I had read every kind of book there was. Ever since I learned how to read, I have had favourite stories. Spring Jammin’ is my favourite book now. I will send you my e-mail address so you can let me know as soon as Summer Fireworks comes out.

Dear Miss Clarke:
I was always lonely. A lot of kids don’t talk to me because I’m kind of ugly. When I saw the cover of Spring Jammin’ I picked the book up because the boy on the cover looked like he really liked playing the guitar. Since I read your story, I have saved my allowance to buy a guitar. I can play six chords now and I wrote my first song. It’s about the life of a tree that was hidden in the shade of a big tree. When they cut the big tree down, the little tree was able to grow up and have branches. I am like the little tree. Thank you, Miss Clarke for your message. I’m not lonely anymore.

Dear Angela:
I loved reading Spring Jammin’. I didn’t want the story to ever end and when I read the last page and realized there were three more books, I’m writing you this letter so you can send me the next three books right away because I can’t wait to find out what happens to Max and Ben and Ned and especially Yoro Tapp. I’m really glad Max plays the guitar, but now I want to play the saxophone. I’m getting a part time job so I can buy one. Please let me know when the next three books come out. I want to be the first on your list to send them to me.
Brad H: 13

Dear Angela Clarke,
I read Spring Jammin’ and every page was a surprise. I have never read a book in my life that I got hooked on right away. Usually I put them down and read a bit every night. Your book was so exciting that I read it all the way through.

Dear Angela,
I have been bored for most of my life. People say I’m lazy but I’m not. I just didn’t know what to do with spare time. After reading Spring Jammin’ I bought a violin. I have five CD’s now with violin music and I’m taking lessons. I’m never bored now.

Dear Angela Clarke,
Ever since we read your book Band Together, Spring Jammin’, my sister and I have looked at things differently. We decided we spend too much time thinking about nothing important. We would like to thank you for writing this series and we’re looking forward to the next three books.
Jayne and Jackie C: 16 year old twins

Dear Angela:
Band Together has changed the conversations in my home. We talk about all the characters all the time now and both of my children have started playing an instrument. My daughter Anne is taking violin lessons and my son Joseph is playing guitar. Their friend who lives across the street is taking saxophone lessons. I have a feeling they will be organizing a garage rock band soon. I hear them talking about finding a drummer. You have put so much life into our home life, Angela. Thank you.

Dear Angela Clarke:
I haven’t read the book, but my two brothers and Mom and Dad are reading Spring Jammin’. My brother wants to play drums. And my other brother plays the guitar. I have heard wonderful comments about the book. When I get older I will read the books.
Olivia F : 9 years old

Dear Angela:
I’m thinking about taking drums lessons now. Your books are the most interesting and exciting. I can’t wait for the next book Summer Fireworks and the rest of the series. I take people more seriously now since I read your book.
Benjamin F : age 12

Dear Angela:
When we first read the book, I wanted to know what happened to Max, Benny, Faith, Vienna and Roy. Max made me feel like practicing my guitar more often.
Matthew L : age 12

Dear Angela,
Your book has become a daily conversation involving All of our family. We have enjoyed the world of Beedy Village and all the other characters.

Dear Angela,
You will have every mother in Canada mad at you. They will all want to play drums. I am 40 years old and I want to play drums.

Dear Ms Clarke:
I was feeling really lost and confused about my life when a friend lent me Spring Jammin’. At first I thought, ‘oh it’s just another book about a kid who plays the guitar’. Until I read the first chapter. Now that I have finished reading it, I feel less confused, like I’ve found a piece of my life that’s been missing. I realize now I should start being a more compassionate friend. Please let me know when Summer Fireworks is available. I look forward to reading it.
